Who are we?
Dunstable Road Runners
are a small and friendly running club, catering for competitive and social
runners of all abilities and ages (15 and over)
Originally formed in
1983 with just a handful of members, our membership has grown
steadily to well over 100 today.
We are naturally going
to be a tiny bit biased here, but we do pride ourselves on being a very
welcoming and friendly club with a great involvement from our membership.
On all runs, our group
leaders ensure that no one is left behind or left to run on their own. Help and
advice is always available from our coaching team and support &
encouragement from our members is never in short supply.
The most important thing
for us is putting on those running shoes, getting out there and enjoying it,
but we are also very well represented at local races and some further afield.
The ‘fun in the mud’ cross country series is always a seasonal highlight!
As you can see from our
site, we host several events during
the year and are always overwhelmed by the support of our club members and
positive feedback from those taking part.
Where are we?
We are based at
Dunstable Community Football Centre, Creasey Park. Within this new,
modern centre, there is a bar/function room along with our own changing
In the winter months our
evening running is fairly restricted to the roads and pavements of the
surrounding area, however, we occasionally don head torches and get a little
more adventurous. During the summer months, we can get off the roads and
explore the wonders of the Chilterns right on our doorstep.
When do we meet?
Our main club night is
on a Wednesday at from Creasey Park where we have numerous
groups catering for all levels and abilities.
On Mondays there is a
social / recovery run at from Creasey Park. This run normally
heads out as one group, but don’t worry, the pace is nice and easy.
Friday night runs are
arranged on an adhoc basis – please check before you turn up!
In addition to the
standard club nights, we also run interval sessions on
a Tuesday, ideal for those that wish to work on improving running speed.
There are numerous
weekend runs that are normally arranged during club nights or via the power of
social media (what did we ever do before we had that?) Join us on Facebook or
check the forum to get involved.
Yes, loads. As well as
our regular evening and weekend runs, we have a number of social events and
annual favourites, such as our ‘Hot Cross Bun’ and ‘Mince Pie’ runs.
Want to give it a go?
If you would like to
come and give it a try, just come along on one of the club nights or get in
touch via the website, facebook or twitter. Ideally, it would be good if you can already run or jog
for 45 minutes, at around 12 mins/mile pace (so around 3.75 miles in that time). There are no membership obligations or costs involved
to giving it a go, just turn up and enjoy.
Please feel free to
contact us to discuss any of this further
