The Secret London Runs Christmas Lights has become a tradition at DRR and after an enforced break in 2020 we were back! The usual route take in Oxford Street, Covent Garden and Carnaby Street but this year a new ‘Christmas in Chelsea’ route was on offer so we opted for a change.
Once all the organising of who was coming and how we were getting there was done it was simply a matter of meeting up at South Kensington station on a rather mild Sunday evening ready to run.
We started at the Natural History museum to see the ice rink for it’s last year before setting off for the main part of the tour. We took in Kings Road, Sloane Square, the beautiful Albert Bridge, Harrods and a number of little ‘yards’ that I’ll need to check Strava find again! It was nice to be away from the main hussle and bustle of the city.
Alongside the many many photo opportunities was lots of interesting history from our guide, Vanessa, which was delivered in a fun and engaging way.
A big favourite were the rainbow angel wings which pretty much everyone took turns in having their photo with. Our own amazing baker Clare was thrilled to get a stop outside the beautiful Peggy Porschen cake shop whilst I admit to being drawn to the sparkles of Tiffany & Co 😀
We finished off in the quaint Eccleston Yards with a delicious mince pie before a group of us got a little lost looking for the Wetherspoons to refuel after just shy of 5 fun filled miles.
It’s definitely a tradition that will continue into 2022!
