The club selected the Flitwick 10k as our Club Championship race over that distance, a popular local race meant that there was a huge club turnout – 41 in fact!
The forecast was cool but dry, with just a 10% chance of rain, which was welcome after the heat of last weekend. However that 10% turned to reality and as everyone waited for the start a steady (and cold) drizzle looked to be settling in.
There is great local support as you set off through Flitwick and the first DRR cheer squad spot was very welcome as we started up the first of many ‘undulations’. There was an army of friendly marshals to see us safely around the course which is a mix of village and country roads. Thankfully the rain did stop and the pretty views revealed themselves.
A final sprint across the field and through the finish line to collect our very chunky medals as a prize.
Given the tough route and less than pleasant weather there was a surprisingly high PB tally, including these two smiley ladies.
