The Dunstable Downs 20 Mile & Half Marathon Challenge - 13th Sept 09

The challenge is again back this year for its fifth year and the format will remain generally as previous years. Instead of the 10 Mile Challenge (which turned out to be nearer 12 last year) a Half Marathon alternative will accompany the 20 Mile Challenge.

Runners will again be provided with detailed route instructions to follow as few course markings will be used.

The course starts from the foot of Dunstable Downs and once on the Downs provides spectacular views across the Vale of Aylesbury to Ivanhoe Beacon and beyond. The route passes through quiet villages and even quieter woods and fields before returning to the picturesque Downs and on to the finish at Dunstable Town Football Club. The route is run predominantly off road on public footpaths and bridleways with some short stretches of quiet country lanes. The route is best described as undulating with 4 testing hills and 3 steep descents.

3 checkpoints at approximately 5 mile intervals will be providing water and sweets. Included in the entry fee are refreshments in the form of filled rolls, cakes and tea and coffee available at the finish. All finishers will be provided with a certificate of the day.

Entry can be made on line here soon or by post, download entry form here (pdf file.) If you do not have Adobe Acrobat reader download here

Numbers will not be posted and will need to be collected from Registration on the day along with the route description notes.
