Club Information

Dunstable Road Runners is a small friendly club (50 to 70 members) catering for competitive runners as well as social (keep fit) runners of all ages (15 and over) and both sexes.

Our main Club night is Wednesday and we meet at Dunstable Leisure Centre Reception at 7.00 pm between October and May. We meet at Dunstable Town Football Club between May and October. The actual dates of change will be notified.

We meet at Dunstable Leisure Centre Reception on Mondays at 7:00pm and Fridays at 6:30pm.

If you are marathon training and looking for a Sunday training group, look no further, we have several available.

Runs are organised so that no one ever gets left behind or is ever left to run on their own. Please turn up ready to run and you will be made most welcome, or if you would just like some information e.mail: Mark Cornell

Club Constitution

      1. TITLE: The name of the club shall be the Dunstable Road Runners.
      2. HEADQUARTERS: Dunstable Leisure Centre. All correspondence should be addressed to the club secretary at the above address.
      3. OBJECT: To promote road running, off road running, cross country running and amateur athletics.
      4. MANAGEMENT: The management of the club shall be vested in a committee consisting of: Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Club Captain (Men and Womens,) Vice Captains (men and womans,) to be elected annually. The Committee shall have power to fill any vacancy which may arise and to co-opt such members to the committee as they deem appropriate or necessary.
      5. MEMBERSHIP: Shall be confined to Amateurs as defined by the British Athletic Federation under BAF rules for competition-rule 1. Membership shall not be open to anybody under the age of 15.
      6. RESIGNATION: A member intending to withdraw from the Club shall give notice to the Secretary, and his membership shall terminate on the date of that notice unless he is financially indebted to the Club, in which case the Committee may withhold acceptance of the resignation until he has discharged his liability. (BAF Rules of Competition - Rule3(4)).
      7. SUBSCRIPTION: A subscrtiption shall be payable on acceptance into the club and shall be renewable annually there after on 1st November. The amount of that subscription shall be fixed annually at the Annual General Meeting.
        (a) The committee shall have the power to expel any member whose subscription is twelve months in arrears provided a months notice in writing shall have been sent to such a member by registered or recorded delivery letter addressed to his last known address informing him of the proposed action of the committee,
        (b)The name and address of any person so expelled from a club in the South of England Region shall be sent to the honorary secretary of the South of England Athletic Association who shall enter his name in a book to be called the suspension book kept for that purpose. Every person whose name has been so entered in the suspension book shall be suspended from competing at any meeting held under BAF rules until the liability causing his said expulsion which shall not exceed one year,subscription shall have been discharged,no member whose subscription is in arrears is eligible to take part in any competition promoted by the club.
      8. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: A General Meeting shall be held during the month of November in every year to recieve the committees report and financial statement, elect officers and committee members and deal with any other matter specified on the agenda.The secretary must give every member 21 days notice of the meeting and notice of any business which it is desired to be placed on the Agenda, must be given to the secretary at least 14 days prior to the meeting.
      9. SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING: A special general meeting must be called by the secretary within 14 days of the receipt by him of a request in writing signed by ten members of the club stating the business to be brought before such a meeting.
      10. ALTERATION TO RULES: Alteration or addition may be made to the rules by an annual general meeting or a special general meeting called for the purpose. Notice of any proposed amendment must be given as provided in rules 9 and 10.
      11. NOTICE OF A MEETING. The secretary shall give at least 7 days notice to every member of the time and place of any such meeting and the purpose of the meeting must be notified.
